A wine with an intense flavour that offers softness, but its youthful freshness and edgy tannins remind us that it still has a huge ageing potential before it becomes old. A wine of elegance and virtue, which will show its true charatter over time. Bold, intense and very long-lasting. For lovers of spicy and intense Spaniels.
Grape varieties: 100 % tinta de toro
Wine from vines aged between 45 and over 100 years. These are ungrafted vines that have not been attacked by the vine louse. The vines are grown in the traditional breeding format and are planted in sandstone and clay soil over limestone, covered with gravel dunes that retain heat and release it overnight.
Harvesting is carried out by hand. The grapes have been selected and the wine is made from only the healthiest strawberries. After stalking, the mash was macerated by spontaneous fermentation in open French oak barrels for 10 days, with the juice continuously poured over a boiling hat. After maceration for 18 days at temperatures between 24 and 26 °C, the wine was matured for up to 20 months in new French oak barriques.

Teso la Monja

Teso la Monja is the fruit of the Eguren family's long-standing efforts to recognise this specific land as one that can produce distinctive and high-quality wines with long ageing potential. The Eguren family is considered to be the most responsible for putting this land on the world wine map, as one of their former estates produced a wine that was rated an unimaginable 100 points by Robert Parker (world critic and connoisseur)! This has attracted the interest of many buyers and connoisseurs worldwide and laid the foundation for the classification of the DO Toro region. The Eguren family cultivates several vineyards according to biodynamic principles. The vineyards are planted in poor sandy and clayey soils, which are spread over layers of limestone and covered with a layer of gravel that absorbs heat during the day and radiates it at night. The composition of the soil has prevented the vine louse from wreaking havoc here, and there are quite a few wines produced from vineyards that are over 100 years old, on substrates that have not been grafted.
